Eatmytrip Barcelona ~ Brunch

Alps Brunch & Açaí bowl

Barcelona is heaven on earth when you wanna eat great brunch in town. There are so many amazing cafés to go eating and enjoy delicious, colorful dishes from their menus. With some research and evaluation, I came across eatmytrip on google. They did not disappoint. A cozy little place but with an abundant space full of passion and love, I felt immediately at home. I loved their originality in interior, platings and flavors. It was an adventurous experience by the atmosphere and the different tastings of food components. And who doesn’t love new things to try and explore right?

Their menu offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, so it’s a place for everyone to enjoy. I tried their alps brunch; so delicious with the combination of truffle, Parmesan and cheese together with roasted potatoes, mushrooms, poached eggs and pickled onion. It’s symphony to my ears and truly satisfied my tastebuds. The gluten-free seed bread was also pitch perfect with it.

Then, the açaí bowl like no other I’ve tasted before! So creamy, so yummy and I loved that it didn’t have lots of seeds from the berries sticking to my teeth! The color of the smoothie was beautiful, the toppings bringing it next bevel with mouthwatering sweet mango and strawberries, accompanied by crunchy buckwheat granola, coconut chips and gluten-free chocolate chip cookie. Another star component of the dish being so gooey and moist.

Can you see what I mean?

But the brunch didn’t stop right there you see.. I had to finish it in style with their chocoloco pancakes and man that made me loco by how amazing they were. From how beautifully they plated it, to harmonizing the flavors of crunch by red velvet crumbs to creamy coconut mousse and hazelnut ice cream. However, topping it off with fluffy well made American pancakes. I loved that they went loco with the chocolate sauce because that’s the way it should be if the dish says so right? Still day dreaming about them, no doubt I’m coming back for more!

Take a closer look of them guys
Matcha latte served in a dead skull cup, this is what I mean by how cool they are by being so original!

So if you are in Barcelona and want to enjoy a top notch brunch place, this is the café to go. Enjoy and don’t hold back.

With love & care, Melanie x

Brunch at Flax and Kale passage

The past weekend my best friend came to visit me here in Barcelona, what a weekend we had. Gosh, we ate a whole lot of delicious food. And one place I just had to show her was Flax and Kale Passage. Plus, what better way to enjoy ourselves with good food and company?

Seriously good. I just love that we can share the plates from the menu, they give you two pieces in each plate, it’s perfect! This way you also can enjoy more by trying more things. This sweet gluten-free waffle with dairy free almond ice cream, was pure heaven!

What amazes me is the way they succeed in making all gluten-free taste so good. It has a great consistency and you couldn’t have guessed it’s without gluten! Also I just love how beautifully they serve the dishes!

The portobello mushroom toast with poached egg, roasted chickpeas accompanied with veggies and hummus. Mmm, that one was sooo good.

How cool is this? We got to sit in the turmeric room. You can close the doors and enjoy privacy, it’s so cozy, absolutely love this idea!

Eating brunch here in Barcelona is a big thing here. No wonder why… Get the same experience next time you visit Barcelona, highly recommended:)

Flax & Kale Passage • Barcelona

This restaurant is one of my favorites to go out and eat when in Barcelona. It lies in a passage like the name says. It is very cool to walk through it, leading you the way to the restaurant!

Here they serve everything gluten free and offer a flexitarian menu! Flexitarian means that it’s a flexible diet since you can eat fish and egg, but excluding meat. Here you will find plant based meals, fish dishes and gluten-free pizzas! You might be skeptical to this in the beginning, wondering if it’s as good as a the “original” served food.

The answer is yes! It’s really tasty! So go with an open mind and you will be amazed by how tasty it is. Plus you won’t question about going there after your first visit. It’s healthy food which tastes great too, what more to ask for?! I think I’ve convinced you right??

As you can see, it’s a really cool place to sit and eat too!

Aaand, they make healthy sweets and desserts! For a big dessert lover like me, who absolutely looove sweets, (not very proud of it though hehe) this is a huge relief!!!

Last time when I was there, I tried the plant based chocolate mousse with nut ice cream. It wasn’t bad at all! Normally it’s like; you can’t replace the “bad stuff” with a healthy version, but here at Flax and Kale, they sure can…

Here is another prove of them succeeding with a plant based meal which looks and tastes the same… I would even say better! They have replaced the scrambled eggs and pulled pork with plant based ingredients such as tofu and jack fruit. Seriously, you don’t miss the original flavors at all. This badass right here offers more taste, and happiness to your belly!

Here is the address of the restaurant:

Carrer de Sant Pere Més Alt, 31-33, 08003 Barcelona

And there are so many delicious pancakes to order, here are some of my favorite picks…

A super yummy matcha pancake, so good! And first time trying it. I’ve also tried matcha in other pastries, and the flavor is really good.

The gluten-free ricotta pancake with granola!!! Mmm

Flax and Kale ~ Barcelona

I love this restaurant, they have so many other delicious and healthy plates to offer. The atmosphere here is incredible, sitting on the roof top and being surrounded by flowers and plants, made me feel complete. Definitely a place to visit when in Barcelona!

Oh, and in my opinion these two restaurants serves the best and healthier pancakes in town!

What are you waiting for? Go and get your Sunday pancake, you deserve it when the week has finished:)

Fit Kitchen Barcelona

The name of this restaurant defines what they cook, making meals that makes you fit! They offer various of salads, you can even choose your own salad according to how you like it, they have healthier burgers options and healthy desserts alternatives too!

Above I ordered a nutritious salad with tofu and kimchi mayonnaise dressing. I chose asparagus, caramelized onion and sweet potato to my salad. When you get there, you can order your own salad too:)

And the second time I went there, I just had to try their burgers! I love that they make them with sweet potato bread, they also offer spinach bread! It was really good. I chose a veggie burger based on quinoa. Truth be told, it wasn’t the best vegetarian burger I have tasted… But, the baked sweet potatoes on the side, they were heavenly good!

After my meal, I was up for a sweet treat and lately I have fallen in love with energy balls. They are healthy and delicious, perfect for a sweet tooth! I tried vanilla and matcha, my personal favorite was the matcha. On the picture you see the vanilla energy ball. In addition, they have other desserts too. Raw carrot cake, snickers cake, cheese cake. Yup, no problem finding a dessert you prefer!

Avocado restaurant

I mean, it’s so easy to find so many healthy restaurants in Barcelona. This time I found “Avocado” restaurant, which serves delicious and wholesome Mexican dishes! I chose the avocado box, that has mixed rice, mashed avocado, caramelized banana slices, black beans, sweet potato and crunchy yuki! Man, that was an awesome meal!

I tried the vegan option, but they have as well vegetarian and meat alternatives. For this dish, I only needed to pay 9,95€! Cheap and healthy, it’s a win win!

And, it keeps getting better when they also have healthy dessert options!!! You can eat without guilty pleasures and still feel good about it. I tried sweet potato chocolate cake with passion fruit and mango ice cream. It’s gluten-free, dairy free and has no unhealthy sugar added. Though I must admit the sweet potato chocolate cake is different, it still tasted good. It had a more soft pudding like consistency than a normal chocolate cake, but it was tasty and “chocolaty” and that counts the most;)

The restaurant is genuine. When eating here you get an earthy and natural impression, the interior is bound with the nature with its wood tables and chairs. You feel like you are in the tropics with all the beautiful decorated plants they have. Come here and you will feel the good vibes… “Good food results to good mood”, and they definitely succeed in achieving that!

The restaurant’s address is:

Av. del Paral•lel 44, 08001 Barcelona.

Feeling adventurous

But before you get on with your adventure, you need to start the day well by eating good food right? And so I did with eating a delicious brunch this Sunday at “Federal Café”. As you can see, I ordered poached eggs, with avocado, spinach and bacon, together with toasted rye bread, mmm. Oh, and when in Spain you can’t miss freshly pressed orange juice!!!

The café is located at Passatge de la Pau 11 in Barcelona. I must be honest, it was not easy to find, but that’s why the café lies in a quiet area, away from the tourists and the city traffic. You feel tranquility, and you forget you are in a busy city like Barcelona.

Next time when I come back, I want to try the French omelette with kale, mushrooms and ricotta, and their matcha brownie! It’s sounds really interesting, plus it’s gluten-free, I have a feeling it’s a good one…

I sat on a pillow at the window, it was such a cool spot to eat. You should try to get that spot too when you eat here;)

After a solid brunch, I was ready to take on my adventure, which was leading me to “La Donuteria”. Walking around can be such a good therapy, and strolling around the less busy streets of Barcelona was even better! I had longed for a donut, so I did some research and wanted to try out this place. It didn’t disappoint me at all…

They had so many interesting flavors that it got impossible to choose! I could easily have just ordered all of them, but reality stroke me to having one. After a tough decision, I chose “crema de chocolate y dulce de leche”, dulce de leche is typical Spanish so I wanted to try their take on an American donut. Oh my goodness that was good, too good to be true!

It was a perfect balance of sweet and savory. The coating was salted caramel, already by reading those words you can understand why it’s good;)

I wanted to try “crema de chocolate con mango”, which is dark chocolate with mango flavor, but they didn’t have more of it. However, it’s a good excuse to come back and try it next time! Other variants which were also strong candidates were white chocolate and raspberry flavor, vanilla and café latte, plus chocolate donut with matcha flavor. You can understand why I struggled in the first place.

From there I took the bus D20 at stop Paral•lel – Marquès de Campo Sagrado to Creu Coberta – Plaça Espanya.

Barcelona amazes me, there is so much to do here and there are endless discoveries to take on. One I had long wanted to visit was the “Palau Nacional”. It’s Catalunya”s national art museum. Even though I didn’t get inside this time to see the 250 000 different artworks, you can’t always get it all done at once right? But for a first time, walking around this amazing building was more than good enough.

What better way is there to enjoy the donut on top of the Palau Nacional building! Eating with a view, and walking to the top after all those stairs, yup that was something! Ps: they have escalators on the way up there if you are too tired to walk all the stairs up! I did cheat a bit, I must be honest I was one of them who were too tired to walk all the stairs. After all, I was kinda happy they had escalators. But at the same time, it felt weird when looking at an old and historical building and taking the escalators! However, I got reminded by that we live in modern times now haha.

Barcelona

Barcelona has so much to offer with great cafés and restaurants at every corner to amazing architecture. I love having a walk in this city, there are so many places and streets to discover. One place I discovered and became quickly a favorite is the café “Brunch & cake”. I absolutely adore this place, the atmosphere and the vibes, but more importantly the food they serve! It’s served fun and playful on your plate. It’s made with passion and that’s why I love it. Of course a plate can look good and not taste good, but here they do both things good which is a win win!

In Barcelona you can find five cafés of this name, I personally love “Cup & cake” the most, it’s small and intimate, for me more cozy and somehow they serve the food the best by all of the cafés this chain has! The other one which comes after is bigger and is also nice, it is at the street called Rosselló.

The menu offers a lot of healthy options and I did go “bananas” and got indecisive with what to choose! I can’t blame myself, you’ll understand too once you see the menu.. From pancakes, to healthy vegan burger, to açaí bowl, sugar free muffins, avocado toasts to delicious salads, I mean come on, how can you choose??

So next time you are in Barcelona, “Brunch & cake” or “Cup & cake”, is the place!
